Protective Booms

Project Description

Security

Strategic Floating Security Barriers are advanced modular systems engineered to safeguard critical maritime facilities against water drone threats. Each module is identical and interchangeable, facilitating straightforward replacement during maintenance or in the event of damage.

Design Features

Robust Outer Frame:
  • Constructed from H-beams, the frame offers exceptional rigidity and resistance to wave-induced forces and sudden wind gusts.
  • Critical joints are reinforced with stiffeners and where necessary, spacers to enhance stability at connection points.
  • All frame and float connections utilize high-strength bolted joints, employing corrosion-resistant stainless steel hardware of class A2.
  • A central steel I-beam endures significant torsional and bending stresses, ensuring even distribution of tensile loads along each barrier section.

Dual Floating Elements:
  • Attached to both sides of the outer frame, these floats maintain the structure’s buoyancy and act as obstacles to marine drones and small vessels.
  • Fabricated from thick-walled, impact-resistant, and UV-resistant polyethylene, they are designed to withstand harsh marine environments.
  • Internal reinforcement with a steel channel ensures uniform load distribution at attachment points, mitigating horizontal and vertical stresses from wave action on the frame.
  • The internal cavity is filled with low water absorption polyurethane foam (density: 30 kg/m³), ensuring buoyancy is preserved even if the outer shell is compromised.

Multi-Layered Protection

1

Primary Defense – Floating Elements:

  • Internal steel channel reinforcement distributes loads evenly, reducing stress on the frame and enhancing durability against variable forces and potential collisions.
  • Polyurethane foam filling maintains buoyancy despite external damage, ensuring continuous operational integrity.

2

Secondary Defense – External Frame:

  • The H-beam constructed frame withstands wave impacts, strong winds, and collisions with vessels traveling up to 90 km/h, providing robust protection.

3

Enhanced Security – Anti-Intrusion Measures:

  • An upper metal mesh with 250×250 mm apertures and dual 20 mm diameter cables deters unauthorized access.
  • A submerged nylon mesh with adjustable height and 350×350 mm apertures, supported by a 20 mm diameter rope, extends beneath the floats to prevent underwater intrusions.
